After the Liberation from 1878 the education was moved in Silistra and developing rapidly. As early as December 1880, a three-class state school (junior high school) was opened in the city. During the reign of Stefan Stambolov, was born the idea for opening a pedagogical school in Silistra began. The choice of the border town is not accidental.
The National Liberal Party does not forget that the "shield and sword" for preserving the Bulgarian language is the education on native language. The Pedagogical School aims to provide the necessary pedagogical staff for the young state and for the Bulgarian community in North Dobrogea. With the support of Dimitar Petkov (born in North Dobrogea) - the "right" hand of Stambolov, the idea was realized in 1890.
In 1892, with the massive participation of the enthusiastic Bulgarians opens the new building of the school for the future educators. The stylish palace has so far beautify our city and is its emblem. The Pedagogical School was transformed in High School during the years 1910-1911, for admitting students to the Pedagogical School.
